What You’ll Find Here

As a starting point, Music as Literature is where you’ll find deep-dives into an album, a song, or a genre. You’ll get some insightful musings, references to other historians’ work, and a companion playlist to boot.

Every other week or so, you’ll also get a Now Playing list featuring new releases accompanied by why I think the song is worth your listen. I skew more to the underground and the fringe, but I’m no stranger to the mainstream. These playlists are made for the genre-curious.

I live in the greatest city in the world and have the great privilege of seeing live music whenever time or budget allows. I share my experiences with you in Show & Tell.

About Nielly

I’m a Los Angeles-based writer whose journey with writing about music started early in childhood. I had ambitions about one day writing for Rolling Stone and traveling the world to see our favorite bands. Now, my ambitions are to expose you to new music and engage more deeply with artists and songs you already know and love.

My vision is that by (over)thinking about this kind of stuff, you’re more ready, willing, and able to engage in your communities IRL and make this beautiful Earth an even more lovely place to live.

All companion playlists are posted on Apple Music & YouTube

Keep up with my real-time album listens and ratings on MusicBoard (it’s like Letterboxd for music!)

xoxo, Nielly
