i’ll go first
abundance begets abundance
i finally understood why toxic positivity music feels so good and i’m also happy to report i’m judgment free! read more about that here
i was interviewed by an iconic and influential fellow substacker and i can’t wait for you all to learn how deep my witchy ways go
after years of getting bi-annual breast screenings (and subsequently having an existential crisis every single time), i learned that i can go back to regular screening for my age group! save your boobies with early screening!
i went to a halloween party where everyone was either an improv comic, a theatre actor, or musician and it was soooo fun rambling on with new friends about bridgerton, my favorite punk bands, and why you shouldn’t only watch movies that have 3.5 stars or higher on letterboxd
i thought i was going to have to put my 10-year-old cat to rest BUT HE GETS TO LIIIIIIVE! he’s angry he’s on a diet, but i’m happy i get more cuddles
i went to see Djo at the Greek with one of my BFFs. and though i probably won’t write a whole Show & Tell about it, I give it one 🌈 for vibes and one 🤘🏽 for performance. the stage setup and the lighting truly represented Djo’s experience and exposure to film and cinemetography
my dad came into town to watch the anniversary theater release of twilight: new moon and it was so fun watching him laugh, squirm, and cover his face when the theater squealed at all the shirtless jacob scenes. (go team charlie!)
my mom came into town and we got to debate about food security and the best plan for the family vacation
i saw Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein on halloween night and witnessed the incredible and moving performance by Jacob Elordi as the creature. special fx leave much to be desired but the costuming and cinematography is a sight to behold
….AND!!
and I successfully completed our inaugural Crate Digest event. We took a deep dive into masculinity and vulnerability in music. In the process we learned that he and I really provide a balance and depth that not only makes facilitation meaningful for the attendees, but personally fulfilling. We both got to shine and share our gifts in a really fun way.
Our audience was made up of supportive family and friends from all walks of life. Miki and I learned more from our audience about the queer perspective on masculinity, the subtlety of male violence, and how deeply everyone is seeking actionable solutions and conversation about how to improve society. Miki and I are so proud of ourselves — more to come!
